iMessage and normal SMS not working?

Anonymous
Not applicable

As the title states, my iMessage and SMS aren't working. It all kicked off today when I turned off my iMessage (for not even a minute) and since then it has been "waiting for activation..." with my mobile number - there's a tick next to my email address but I don't want to use it. My normal SMS isnt working either. I can send them, just not receive, which I find a bit bizarre.

Is this a problem with others just now or is it just my phone being a little pain?

Just had to keep signing in/out of Apple ID and switching off both iMessage and FaceTime, and it eventually showed my number then. No hassle with the "Waiting for activation..." capers either.

Thanks, but I've tried both of those ideas. I've never had trouble with this before so I'm a bit lost! I also tried switching iMessage and FaceTime off (apparently you have to do both) and signing out off Apple ID, and still nothing. Maybe I'm being too impatient!

Could be a glitch yes.

If you get stuck then you can seek help from an Apple Store Genius Bar via http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/ or an in store O2 guru via http://www.o2.co.uk/help/guru

There doesn't appear to be any network issues here. And I can make and receive calls, it's just messages that seem to be the problem.
I'll have a wee look on there, thanks!

Ok.

Try removing your SIM card and give it a clean.

Good luck. slight_smile

Aw it's still not working. I'll give it tomorrow and if it's still not working I'll nip in to an O2 store and see what they can do Thanks guys! slight_smile

iMessage is notoriously glitchy so it will probably just start working again all by itself.
