i have a pay monthly data account with 02. The sim i have is inserted into a d-link wireless router for my internet access. the problem i have is that the public ip associated to the data sim is Dynamic (ie it keeps changing) does anyone know if 02 provide data sims with static ips  ( i know vodafone do but i had to dump them because of there lousy customer service) have tried getting the answer from the on-line guru's and i might as well of been talking to a wall as they are not technically qualified from my experience this morning.

No it’s not something I’ve ever known be offered.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

O2 only provide static IP addresses to data sims for enterprise customers when used in IOT devices or as said m2m devices, and even then the customer owns the `IP Block used

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Thanks for the replies. As mentioned above mobile carriers dont sell fixed ips to minions like us. The company i found resells them at an inflated rate for all the carriers.

Its a pity really as there is no landline where live so broadband is outof the question

I know that this thread is probably colder than deep space but I thought I'd update it for anyone else who might be asking the same question.

The short answer is: no, O2 (and to the best of my knowledge all the other mobile network operators in the world) don't offer individual consumers the ability to attach static and/or public IP addresses to their mobile SIM cards.

However, O2 Business do offer services to business customers that can deliver static IP and/or public IP addresses, both directly (private APN) and indirectly via partners (like Asavie or Wireless Logic).

All these services use a private APN (Access Point Name), rather than one of the run-of-the-mill public Internet ones (mobile.o2.co.uk / idata.o2.co.uk / modem.o2.co.uk etc).

Private APNs also offer lots of other features like better application performance, less filtering/blocking, better security, dedicated service & customised reporting and billing.

Maybe when (if?) full IPv6 deployment happens this situation will change but I can't see that happening for many years to come.

Some networks even share IP addresses between users - I had this with a Smarty SIM in a WiFi router and i wanted to enable port forwarding to access a Node MCU which was connected to my WiFi - I found out that my Public IP address was in the 10.0.0.0  range - which is local network - so it was on my local network 192 IP address then another 'local' network with the 10 ip address on the carrier side which then shared a 'normal' IP address between several users - long story short - port forwarding didn't work.
