emergency calls only

I have brought new phone put a old sim card in it says emergency calls only tryed it in other phone does phone do I have to get another sim or is there a way to use this 1

Where Did you get the phone from ?

Sounds like it could be imei locked.

Or locked to another network.

Try another SIM card in it if you have one.

Or how old is the SIM card. If payg have you made a call within the last 6 months and topped it up within 999 days. If not ring Cs and they may be able to re activate it for you.

May i ask, where do's you get your new phone? Was it from ebay oulr similar? If so it may well be imei blocked, perhaps an insurance fraud.

If you bought it from a 2nd hand retailer like CEX then would suggest you return it.

Does the sim work in anothyer phone as it's unclear from your opening post?
