I went online to buy a Pay Monthly sim yesterday, but then learnt that you need to live in the UK for at least 3 years or have lived at 2 different addresses in the UK before getting a contract. Is this for real? Meaning that if you have a permanent job, good income, loads of savings, pay rent (1 address since in the UK), you still cant get a contract if you havent been here for 3 years?!
Could someone clearify this for me please.
Tanks,
Anita

I thought it they were new customers it was 3-6 months on payg or simo before they were even allowed to apply for a contract

You don't need 3 years address history for getting a SIM only tariff. Going to an O2 Store may be helpful, but you may be asked for your occupation, such as international student.

I started a SIM-only contract with address history of less than 10 days and without security deposit and interestingly passes credit check last year. I think it is dependent on various factors.
