does anybody know how I can merge calls on o2?

depending on what device you use, normally when your on one call , there is an option on the phone to add a call or merge a call

is it a smartphone your using? android or iphone?

Sometimes it needs to be enabled on your account first though.

Depends on tariff and how setup.
