charged for another bill even after the contract has ended

Not applicable

I was on a sim only contract for 12 months, payment by direct debit. I left UK 2 months ago, but left money in my account for the remining time period. Officially, my contract ended on 30th september 2013. But, I recently received an email from o2 that my bill for the month of october is ready. Now, my accounts are empty and I dont want o2 to debit my account and make it negative! Web chat isnt working and i cant connect with assistance if calling from abroad. Please help!

It's not a catch, just standard procedure, if everyone's phones were cut off at the end of a contract half the country would have no service.

From the terms:

2. Your Minimum Period – Your Pay Monthly Mobile Agreement has a minimum contract term called a minimum period. After that minimum period, you can end the Agreement by giving us 30 days’ notice.
