charged for another bill even after the contract has ended

Anonymous
Not applicable

I was on a sim only contract for 12 months, payment by direct debit. I left UK 2 months ago, but left money in my account for the remining time period. Officially, my contract ended on 30th september 2013. But, I recently received an email from o2 that my bill for the month of october is ready. Now, my accounts are empty and I dont want o2 to debit my account and make it negative! Web chat isnt working and i cant connect with assistance if calling from abroad. Please help!

Your contract will continue on a 30 day basis once the minimum period is up, so it needs to be cancelled.

You should not cancel the direct debit until the account is closed.

Can you logon to your bank from where you are?

Cancel the direct debit and then contact O2 to resolve the issue.

They can't if the direct debit is not there.

Just make sure you contact O2 to sort out whatever the issue may be.  If you do owe money still you can pay them via card over the phone etc..

O2 will mark your credit record if the payments are not made, making it difficult should you return to the UK in the future.
