Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

Eu regulation states provider can charge a maximum of 5p a minute after 30april2016 for calls between eu numbers (eg from uk to your family in spain) . before 30april 2016 this was 17p.

o2 is charging 150p a minute for calls to the eu while part of the eu. Why is this? And why has this increase so much?

The directive applies "whilst travelling" not for calls from the UK.

Yes, that's the way it is currently.
Mind you when we exit the EU who knows what will happen!

Of course it is.
If you want to call Spain from UK you need a Spanish sim.
I have a French sim for all my calls to France as the tariff I have includes 2000 mins or calls back to France whist I am roaming in UK.

Actually O2 changed O2 travel options on the 8th April. It was quite clear at the time...you could either opt in or out. When calling to and from Spain I use Tugo over wifi or skype or whatsapp and even messenger...

Tugo will still cost you £1.50 pm if calling Spain from UK.
