You would need to have O2 travel as it can be expensive

use a local sim if you have an unlocked phone

I use my O2 phone in Spain as I go frequently. I have O2 Travel. If I make or receive a call it costs me a 50p connection fee and I can chat for up to 60minutes. I rarely text... I use messenger or whatsapp over Wifi

In fact as Wifi can be accessed pretty much everywhere in Spain, my bill when I return to the UK is never very much higher than normal.....

EDITED to add...this is only for calling to UK...NOT effective when phoning Spanish numbers....though Wifi still is a good way of remaining in contact with anyone ....be they in Spain or the UK

O2 travel doesn't apply for calling within Spain.
It's only for calls to and from the UK. You will be charged at the rates I posted above for calling a Spanish number from within Spain.

@Anonymous If you're going to be in Spain for a couple of months, you'd be better off with a local Pay & Go sim to call within the country. Just make sure the phone is unlocked before you go as @Anonymous has suggested.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
