billed for data

I am home and have perfectly good wifi broadband in the house that mobile phone uses automatically.

It is now 12:40 on 5th October 2013. I have not used my mobile today.

I press the button to bring screen alive and note a message has been received.

I slide to the next screen and a Blue Box has opened from O2. It says

You can now use data on your phone until midnight tonight, we've given you 50MB to use, and taken £1 from your balance.

WHY?

I am indoors, I have wifi broadband in the home and I have not used my phone for data, don't expect or intend to use it for data, yet O2 had docked £1 from my balance.

This is not the first time this has happened

Can anyone help me with this?

Tks

You need to turn off mobile data to stop these £1 daily charges.

Some apps update in the background when wifi goes to sleep therefore using mobile data.

There may be a setting under wif in the phone menu to ensure wifi does not sleep.

Hope this helps.

Go into settings>>more settings>>mobile networks and untick mobile data.

You will still be able to use wifi.

The complaint is a waste of time, turn the data off as advised.

You have only been charged for what you have used.
