Yet Another Number Transfer Taking Forever Post. YANTTFP

Or if you like, Requesting Another Number Transfer Incredibly Not Good. - RANTING...

It took a week of botched contracts, and failed messages to get the new phone delivered.

Now into four days and counting, and still no number transfer happening. This is after two attempts. One via the direct SMS method. Looks good, but didn't happen yet.

The second on Monday via the web page interfce. Looks good, but still ... nothing happening..

and yes I know this community can do nothing, but that's ok, because neither can O2 it seems.

I guess I'll just have to continue looking important, or like a drug pusher, and carry around two mobile phones ... until someone decides they should do a bit of work. I mean, in this day and age, and O2 Techs doesn't work weekends???? Do they think they are NHS doctors of something?

I don't think you can do a sim swap changing your number from P&G to monthly. Call customer service or use the form here :

https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=port_migrate&case=Port/Migrate%20In%20Form

My husband did this last week. Went from PAYG to pay monthly and used that form to transfer his number to his new contract sim... He did it on the Saturday and it was changed in 10 minutes (which I admit shocked me). I didn't expect it to happen so fast.

Transfer my "old" number from my old phone to my new phone, replacing its "new" number. Both O2 accounts. Done it before.

I stand corrected then. I thought if you were transferring an O2 number to a different O2 sim you could just use the swapmysim link and that type of account wasn't relevant. @Anonymous please follow the link posted by @jonsie amd @Cleoriff. This is presuming you have already been sent your Pay Monthly sim.

Confusing form. Is screen 1 the existing PayAsYouGo phone, or the new phone and number?

It says "Pay & Go™ customers, please complete steps 1 and 3 only - the system will take you past step 2 automatically."

I'm sure you will be fine using the correct form. You should get email or text updates as to when the change will take place.

Please let us know if you have any success. If not, and you're not too far from an O2 store, follow my suggestion from earlier, and they will do it for you. Good luck.

Actually I found two for my husband. One took you through all stages ..the other asked you to skip a couple of sections. As I said I was amazed that it was done in 10 minutes... on a Saturday...
