I set up my new phone yesterday and ported my old number across. If I send a text it shows it as coming from the number on the sim prior to my number porting across. I can receive texts to my ported number, and calls correctly show my ported number, it's just text messages that show the wrong number. Any advice?

When porting across, text numbers are usually the last thing to work properly. Keep rebooting your phone.

Settings >Phone >My number.

Change it to your number, save it and reboot phone.

There is nothing under the settings where I can do this, neither in Message settings or the About Phone setting.

Should be in message settings either under general or SIM or advanced RCS settings.

I have found the (a?) solution, certainly the correct number is now being shown to the recipient. I went to Settings >Chat Settings and changed Default Messaging Type from Chat to Text or Multimedia.

It's the chat setting that uses the number stored on your phone.
