Wrong billing? Changed to PAYG from Pay monthly

Hi there, I just got my statement from the bank and there's an O2 bill that I wasn't expecting...so here it goes.

on the 20th of February I received my normal bill, and paid it.

On the 8th of march, i called CS and asked to switch from Pay monthly to PAYG as my contract had expired and I am leaving the country anyway, they migrated the sim and i topped it up and all was fine. I was told I would get a final bill but it wouldn't be the full amount of my bill because i obviously only used a few days of my allowance, which was fine.

On the 20th of March, i see that O2 took the full amount of my account! How is that possible? I'm sure that can't be right. Do i cancel the Direct Debit or what? I had enough stress to switch from pay monthly to payg already - can't believe it....wonder if they "forgot" to cancel my DD!

Oh, and on the 22nd of March i got an email saying i had nothing to pay for that month...weird.

Guys, i chatted to an online advisor and he checked everything for me, apparently O2 will refund me some of what i last paid and my pay monhtly account no longer exists! He asked me to wait for 14 days, so let's see! thanks everyone!

If i go to an O2 shop tomorrow will they be able to check if my pay monthly account was closed properly/there are no more direct debits? Calling CS is difficult as i'm working extra hours lately so i'd appreciate any help i can get!

You will get charged for the full month as you always pay a month in advance. You will get another bill the following month showing you are in credit and O2 will pay the excess back into your account. This is perfectly normal and nothing funny is going on at all.

So as i understand I won't get another bill from now on, right? As i already paid my march bill...i'm going to close my bank account soon, so i need to know as i definitely do not want a bad credit score because of it!

You will get another bill but it will show that you are in credit, which will go back into your account 14 days (approx) after the bill is generated. Wait for the refund before you cancel your DD.

So, i imagine that the bill i got on the 20th of march was the last bill right? (i cancelled my contract on the 8th of march), so i should get the refund from this bill from the 20th or i need to wait until the 20th of april?

Yes, I would imagine the April bill will show you are in credit unless the March bill already does that ?

What happened was that I got the march bill on the 20th, but then on the 22nd of march I got an email saying I don't owe any money anymore, so that's why I am confused as to whether more money will be taken out of my account or not...quite confusing!

Yes it is. I assume your account is currently showing a credit. What does it say in "My O2" ?

I haven't been able to log on myO2 since i switched from pay monthly to payg...it says that there is no number associated with my account! Even though I kept my number and am now using it normally to make calls/send texts...
