well, that's a bit of a monument to make people go all through that to try and pre order, only to blast this back at them.
I assume in store can still do switch up pre orders without this coming up

You know, I have a feeling they've considered that. Unsure on "official" release date, but all delivery estimates point at 31st Jan....
However, all the "pre order" bonuses, run until the 6th. So all depends on when official in store release is..

Sounds like something o2 have done to be as awkward and annoying to the customer, however I can also see why they have done this, as think a lot of people pre-order in store on switch up and then either dont come and do the switchup, or come back with a phone that wont pass the checks etc.
Either way its making switch up in store much harder to do.. and to recommend to people

Key take away points seem to be.
£50 deposit is gone
Now works exact same as online preorders.
You can have delivered to home or collect in store
You can send phone send off after delivery (this option won't work for people who get the device limit error online)
You can hand in device at the point of pre ordering (this is the only option that will work for those with device limit errors)

Tell you what, I'd love to know why my preorder is sitting in the store (as shown on my o2 order status page) but I've just had an email stating I can't collect it until tomorrow....

Yes, at point of preorder device had to be handed in.
Other option was sending off by post. But not possible as device limit error prevented it
