Why is my contract 36 months long but I can’t cancel or upgrade for a year after?

So my contract started June 2022 and it’s 36 months long taking me to June this year. I pay 65 a month and have always made payments when due. But it says there’s still 315 left to pay of the device and I can’t upgrade until 2026? 1. Why would there be 5 months left to pay when I’ve always paid the bill. And 2. how is it going past 36 months when that isn’t what I signed up for. My contract says nothing about after 36 months and I don’t see why I should have to pay anything after that month. I barely use any data, any texts or any of my calls despite having an expensive plans but they wouldn’t let me lower my plan throughout the contract. Is anyone able to explain this to me?

Not really, as nobody here can access your account, @WinterB908 - but text info to 85075 from the phone in question to see what leaving balance is really required, then contact O2 either using social media (either link just below) or via the number given in Guide: How to find help & contact O2 to see what the story is. Good luck!
