@suzzy3 There is aleady some good advice here. Your first step is to stop any further charges either by sending a STOP ALL text to 88222 or by contacting Tap2Bill:
Customer care number 03330030599 Customer care email customer.service@tap2bill.com Postal address Tap2Bill Limited 5 St. John's Lane Farringdon London EC1M 4BH United Kingdom
88222 is a "shared shortcode", meaning that your charges could have come from any one of a number of "services". Once you have identified the "service" you can set about getting a refund. There is plenty of advice about obtaining refunds on our website. In the unlikely event that our advice fails to get you a FULL refund, contact us through the website and we will consider helping you with legal action to recover your money.
Your number is routinely leaked by O2 to "trusted third parties" through a process called MSISDN pasthrough. The dangers of this system were highlighted last year in a report produced for BBC Watchdog. Your consent for this is hidden in the "small print" when you take out a contract. All MNOs operate the same system.
You should make a complaint about the charges to the Phone-paid Services Authority(PSA), regardless of whether or not you obtain a refund. Taking money without onsent is unlawful and a breach of the Code of Practice governing these services. Use the complaint reference provided by PSA in your correspondence with the companies involved, and copy PSA into this correspondence.
O2 are unlikely to help you with this. They are exempted from the FCA regulation that governs all other types of payment processor in the UK. If this charge had been made through your bank or through Paypal, you would be entitled to ask them for proof that you consented to the charge. To their shame, O2 take advantage of their exemption to refuse to provide this help. It is for this reason that we advise consumers to opt out of "charge to mobile" and stick with properly regulated payment processors.
As well as the payforitsucks website, there is also a new facebook group providing support for people in your situation.
I hope you manage to resolve this issue,
Paul

Have also been charged by this number - every two days in October. Have no idea why. Tried calling the number recommended below but it would not answer or gave the number unavailable tone. Tried texting as suggested but the text was rejected. This is obviously a total reip-off and should be cancelled by O2 who have a responsibility to their customer base.

@Springbank The 88222 number is a shared shortcode supposedly operated by Tap2Bill. Their contact details as provided by PSA are:

customer.service@tap2bill.com
Tap2Bill Limited
5 St. John's Lane
Farringdon
London
EC1M 4BH
