When my old number will be switched to my phone

I just signed up to 02 monthly from a Tesco pay as u go, 02 told me my number would automatically switch to me when I put the 02 sim in? How long does it take?

I don’t want to cancel unnecessarily until this is resolved, but I need my number as everyone I know work wise and acquaintances, the pathologist that’s dealing with my baby Sapphires death also only had my previous number, I cannot change

Your old Tesco SIM will still receive calls so everyone will be able to call you on that until the number is transferred to your O2 SIM.
