I am currently on O2 PAYG. I pay £15 per month on the Pay and Go Go Go tariff for unlimited texts, 150 minutes of calls and 1GB of data.
A few of my friends are on Giff Gaff and they say that they pay less. When I explain that I don't want to move from O2, they say that Giff Gaff do O2.
Can someone please explain to me what Giff Gaff is? Do they do PAYG? How can they offer cheaper tariffs and better deals on O2 than O2 themselves.
All advice would be much appreciated.

I'm just trying to look at the pros and cons. I may get a sim to check the signal in my area first but if it's part of O2 then hopefully the signal will be the same or better.
I haven't actually had a chance to look at the tariffs yet but I'll do that later. I want one with internet (preferably more than 1GB) and unlimited texts and some calls (I'm not big on making calls).

The £10 goodybag gives you 1GB data and allows tethering, all the unlimited data goodybags (£12 and up) do NOT allow tethering in case that's a consideration.

Also their 4G hasn't launched yet.

Ordering a correct sized sim is an easy affair and come very quickly.

I've tried them out and I've not seen much difference.

I'm on 4G and was hoping they would provide unlimited data on 4G which they are not. 😞

I'm not greedy I don't expect unlimited data - but I just would like more than 1GB - even 2GB would be enough.

I concur a payg tariff with 2gb would be nice.

If required I just add a 1gb bolt on.

Their are sim only contracts holding more data but the monthly charge is raised considerably.

I'm still on the fence.
Compared to O2, Giff gaff have some good qualities, whereas in other areas O2 is better.
I'm considering changing mostly for the data. As I mentioned, I already get unlimited texts now (which is great) and I get enough calls (150 minutes).
My friend has ordered me a sim so I'll have a think about it and decide at the weekend.

giffgaff are in the process of launching their 4g goodybags, but no official date has yet been given.

They have provided what they will offer when launched
