What happened on renewal?

My 1st renewal date for my monthly contract is 1st October. I want to look at changing to giffgaff but I am away for a couple of weeks at the end of September including my renewal date.

My question is will it renew automatically and force me into another years contract on that date or can I look into changing to giffgaff after that date without any penalty?

Can I do anything earlier?

it moves to a 30 day notice period.

You could give o2 30 days notice and ask for a pac code and then get a giffgaff sim and port your number over using the pac that will end your contract with o2 but do not cancel dd until a final zero bill is issued.

If it automatically goes to a 30 day notice period I am happy because I can then do the transfer after I get back.
