What contract should I go for

I have been with 02 for quite some time now (ages) and have always used pay as you go.  I am a very light user in the retired 60+ age bracket but with a 20 year background working in IT.  I only send a few texts each week and make very few calls.  I benefit from my daughters tendency to upgrade her phone quite a lot and she is about to upgrade again.  Under normal circumstances I will just move my sim over to the new phone.  However, her old phone can be used as a hot spot and I have an iPad3 that currently has a "3" micro sim installed on pay as you go. It costs £20.49 for a micro sim for 3 gig for 3 months. they are a bit daft as to renew it costs a £10.00 for 1 gig for 1 month thereafter which means I get a new micro sim at the 3 shop and ditch the old sim - wasteful, I know but it makes semse.

I was considering getting a monthly contract with o2 that would cover my calls and texts and also providing me with a data allowance when tethering my iPad up, hopefully of about 1 gig a month.  I am also attracted by the BT hot spot availability, it would be nice to link my ipad up with a microsim to the same number though I doubt this will be possible it makes too much sense.

I started going through the options and lost the will to live as they all seem to go part way to what I want and fail at the last fence through either cost or functionality.

Obviously my current position is that I pay about  £6.83 for a gig allowance of data a month (with I have to say excellent connectivity just about anywhere) and my phone costs work out to about £6.00 a month. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers and good luck,

Vich

Well I'm not going to try and make the decision for you, but it might be helpful to sign up here so you can use the O2 free hotspots, as this is open to you even if you're not an O2 customer:

The free ones are listed here:

I don't think BT Openzone is included as that is attached to some contracts.

Sounds like you're on a very good deal as you are. I'm not sure O2 could better that.

Thanks Jonsie,

I am sort of coming to the same conclusion.
