What Do I Do With A Spare Sim With Credit Left On It?

I have 2 phones and 2 numbers (both on PAYG).

I'm considering getting rid of one of them, however the sim in that phone has quite a bit of credit left on it.

Apart from making calls to China to use up the credit, is there anything else that can be done? Such as merge the credit with my main number?

Strange that they allowed me to do it around 3 months ago. I would call again and speak to another adviser and failing that, go with the complaint route.

I believe you can do that as long as you own both sim cards.

Be aware it will cancel the sim that you move the credit from so the number will be lost.

My wife had a similar problem before she moved to Three.
She simply entered a few competitions.
Didn't win anything I might add.

It's another option but you would still have your credit if you just simply swapped it to your other sim card.....

Sorry to bring up an old-ish thread but I have an update......

I spoke to an advisor 2 days ago and was told that I could transfer the credit.  I told him I didn't have the numbers but I would do it in the next day or two.

Today I tried to do it and I was told I could not have it transferred as the sim that the credit was coming from was over 28 days.  I asked to speak to a supervisor as I have done a transfer in the past and the sim was over 28 days old.  The supervisor was no help either.  I stressed that both of the sims were mine and I wanted to transfer the credit but he would not listen.  He said he could send me a new sim to transfer the number and then the credit.  I explained that if he checked the records he could see that one sim was a nano and one was a standard sim so that isn't possible.

So basically I am not allowed to transfer my own credit to my own sim (my main number).

Anyways I will be making a complaint.

If you're careful you can cut down a standard SIM to nano size if all else fails.

You would need an adapter to re-use it as a standard or micro SIM though.

I was also able to do it a few months ago but apparently the policy has changed and it can only be done with sims less than 28 days old.

I was advised to get 2 spare sims, transfer to one sim, then transfer to the other, then transfer to my number again.  I know it sounds silly and I won't be doing it.

That's right, it's basically there for if someone upgrades their handset but buys a top up with it, O2 can then do a balance transfer from that sim to the existing one and then disconnect the new sim.

If someone asked what they can do with the credit when leaving I used to advise them they could donate it to charity via text, that tended to be a popular option for some.
