OK. Try this.

My friend went from 02 to EE and ported his number over last week. Obviously you get a temporary number in this process. Now, if I send a text to him on the number he ported over, he receives it. But, if he then replies, the text comes to me from the other number. If I send a message to both the ported number and the temporary number, he gets both. He says I am the only one with this issue so would that suggest there's an 02 issue here?

He needs to remove the number that he's not using.

He may need to contact EE customer service if he can't do it on the handset.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@JimmyGS2 Ask your friend if they can manually change the number to the correct number in their phone's settings.

Esim and standard SIM?
If not, just remove the number not being used.
