Vodafone mast sharing question!

Anonymous
Not applicable
A Vodafone 4G cell has just gone live by my home and is offering very good coverage, better than their 3g in fact.

My question is that as O2 and Vodafone are supposed to be sharing mast sites will O2 put a 4G cell on this soon as the 4G coverage on this side of Birmingham is very poor or unavailable despite the area being covered.

Also any information regarding future mast/cell activations for 4G would be very much appreciated.

Regards.

Hi.

As I say we are customers just like you so could only surmise.

If your wanting any official O2 response regarding your question on 4G cells etc then only by talking to O2 would you perhaps attain the info you seek.

Hi.

As fellow O2 customers we wouldn't have that info to hand I'm afraid.

You would need to speak to O2 directly. Contact details are in the contact us tab at the bottom of the forum page.

4G links.

You will need a 4G compatible phone. A 4G SIM card which can be identified as such as it will say 4G on it. And you will need a 4G Tariff.

Here is a checker for you to see if your all set up.

Even if they do share the mast there is no guarantee they will broadcast at the same power, so I doubt anyone can give you a definitive answer.

Also remember that at the moment you can't make or receive calls over 4G, so you need a reasonable 3G/2G signal to fall back on for these.

Thanks for your replies but I was more hoping someone from the O2 Community would comment on it,

I'm already active with 4G and I'm also aware of the issues of the broadcast power.

I'm also aware that currently LTE requires 2G/3G fallback for calls and texts as the UK isn't yet using VoLTE technolgy.
