Vodafone Phone o2 Sim!

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi,

I bought a phone which was locked to Vodafone.

I unlocked it via a Network Unlock Code. I have put an o2 Sim Card in it, however. Whenever I try to access the internet it says 'Connection Failed' and doesn't let me connect.

What can I do to get this working?

Phone is the LG Viewty KU990i - If that helps at all.

If O2 don't recognize your phone check the settings at http://www.filesaveas.com/o2.html

I've done everything they told me to do on filesaveas, and I still get 'Connection Failed'

And whenever I type my Phone Number at Get Settings ServeSettingsWebApp it always says "Unfortunately, we are not able to process your settings request at this time. Please contact Customer Service or your account manager to discuss further options."

They won't be able to send you the settings. You will need to type them in. If you are getting that message then you have either entered the settings incorrectly or you are using the wrong settings. Make sure you use the PAYG settings.

I did type them in, I put:

Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk/
Connection mode: TCP with proxy
IP address: 193.113.200.195
Proxy server port: 0000
Access point: O2

O2 Access Point Settings:
Bearer: UMTS
Authentication: PAP
Username: payandgo
Password: password
APN: http://payandgo.o2.co.uk

Which is exactly how it's shown on filesaveas GPRS.

I can see a couple of issues, if you are using a proxy, the proxy port should be 8080.
I'm not overly familiar with the Viewty, are there any other options for Bearer? At the moment you appear to have the handset set to 3G only. It should be set to dual mode preferably.
Finally, you could try changing the authentication from PAP.

I'd dump the http as well.

I use these settings (ex Vodafone treo 750v now with O2 Pay & Go SIM).

That's a very good point the APN isn't a web page and so wouldn't use http.
I just checked filesaveas, and the correct proxy port, security and APN are shown.
