On the third of January. I paid off my 24 month contract early. Took out a simplicity 12 month contract and wanted to keep my number. Didnt happen. 10 conversations on chat and phone to O2. Yes this now done. No. Now tonight retentions telling there has been a screw up. Old sim went off on Saturday night and put new one in. Problem was when looking on my account its still the 24 month one. 24 month contract finishing March. Retentions now say they will ring me 25 Feb and move me onto the Simplicity contract. No wonder Im stressed.

What you are trying to do is pointless, you still have to pay off the existing contract, you can't avoid that.

Just wait until it runs it's normal term and then switch which is simple.

I see you used live "chat" at first followed by a phone call.

We suggest a person speaks to O2 uk CS when it involves accounts.

Let's hope they do as they say as agreed now uk CS are involved.

I did not think you could pay off contract early and stay with o2 unless it was fast track to refresh?

I thought you could pay early and get pac and move networks but not move to simplicity with same number on o2 as that is seen as an upgrade (even though it is a downgrade).

What did Retentions say went wrong?

Why would you pay off a contract early to go onto a simo contract ?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Perhaps another post by the OP will explain, there seems to be no advantage at all in doing this.

The best advice would be to cancel the change to Simplicity and stay as they are surely?

As far as I knew I could do this. The sales assistant thought I could do this. Simplicity contract is £5 a month cheaper. O2 advisors had said on the phone several times this could be done, had been done but hadn't. Retentions said that to stay on 24 month and they will ring me in February to change to the Simplicity. It has more minutes etc and is cheaper. My complaint is the amount of times having to contact O2 and the wrong info given. Causing me quite a lot of stress. I have been give extra O2 to O2 minutes and £10 off my next bill as a gesture of good will.
