Using your phone in Guadeloupe

I've checked online and it says that I can use my phone in Guadeloupe as if I was at home even though it is not in Europe. When I phoned up O2 they said no.

I'm not sure what to believe?

If it’s not in Europe then O2 are correct as you will be charged international rates

I can see how they would be easily mistaken. 

Good to know that the phone can be used as at home but sad that customer service got it wrong again.
