Is there any way around the £4.99 per day charge?

Keep phone in airplane mode or remove sim completely and just use your phone on wifi.
Use whatsapp, skype etc to make calls/texts.

@PDL Apart from the suggestions in the post above, there no other ways around the £4.99 charge except to use a local sim if your phone is unlocked.
