Using pay monthly text messages abroad

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

My family are going to Portugal in a couple of weeks, my husband and I are both on o2 pay monthly plans with text allowances, I have checked about making calls and using data but I can't find anything that tells me what the charges are for sending and receiving text messages, to the other people who are on holiday with us with UK mobile numbers, as well as texting back to the UK and receiving texts.

thanks for your help!

Texts sent to the UK and Europe – 7p (free to receive).
Sending a media message – Same as your UK tariff.

Hi ayesharon and welcome to the forum.

An alternative is to use local Wifi where you can , turn off your voicemail before you leave the Uk by dialing 1760, or if your handset is unlocked then perhaps use a local sim card.

Have a really nice holiday.

Note, the above rates are for customers who do not wish to use O2 Travel bolt on.

If you opt for the O2 travel bolt on the call and data costs are as follows:

You'll only be charged £1.99 for the days that you use data in Europe.

  • There’s a daily allowance of 15MB and if you reach this, the service will stop.
  • If you want to use more you can simply text MOREDATA to 23336 to reset  your allowance for another £1.99 / 15MB. If you don’t, your allowance will be automatically reset at midnight.

When you make or receive calls, there’s a connection charge of 50p, then it’s free to talk for up to 60 minutes.

The charge for sending and receiving texts is the same......

Heck sometimes its so confusing.

Its about time the Networks got their act together and got rid of all these conflicting and rather confusing charges.

Easier said than done I submit !
