My contract ran out on the 4th whilst I was on holiday, if I upgrade to a sim only contract now will it automatically replace my existing bill for this month? So next month I get one small bill not two bills if the old one isn't replaced. I am still within the data/minutes.

Also will the additional costs whilst being abroad transfer to the new sim only contract?

Thank you.

Your old contract will end and you will get a final bill with all associated costs.
You will start a new contract from the date you upgrade which will incur a bill that needs to be paid in 14 days time.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

So the best bet is to wait a few days before my next bill so there's minimum overlap?

It will all balance out the same eventually as you are billed a month in advance which will be refunded if you change your account over, so doesn't really make any difference as you are staying with the same network.
