Upgrading from 3G to 4G as a current customer

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all after reading an article on Engadget about O2 dropping there 4G prices to £17 a month (my current 3G bill is £17 before phone payment) I called them up to ask if I could move to 4G as I already have a 4G phone (iPhone 5S) they came back saying my tariff is still £22 for 4G if I want to upgrade.

I am I missing something my current tariff is a 1gb cap.

I average around 20mbps but it does depend on location and how many are using it.....

I'm still waiting for my phone call back to sort out my £5 reduction... Anyone want to take bets on whether I will actually get a call or not?!

Well I caved. I got in touch with chat, who couldn't do anything as they can't see notes added by phone people. What the hell?! This is 2013!!! Sort your systems out!!!

So I phoned, and got through to a lovely lady who was very helpful. Could see all the notes on the system. Could see I was told it would not cost me extra. Said she needed to talk to her manager and would phone me back in 10 minutes. And hooray, she did!

I think there's some kind of issue with applying the monthly £5 discount straight away as you might change your mind and drop back to 3G and then still have the £5 discount. So I have a one off discount of £5 for this month, then I will get a call just before my next bill to see if I'm happy with 4G, then if I am the monthly £5 discount will be applied to my account.

Seems to me like it depends on who you get through to. The last guy I spoke to was a helpful as a soggy dish cloth.

I have just called to try and upgrade to 4g, I currently have a Nokia Lumia 920 on a £27 monthly tariff.

I was told it would be £32 a month to have a 4G tariff, and there was no way to get the charge for 4G removed.

Has anyone else successfully moved from 3G to 4G? No one seems to know about an offer.

That's the whole point that we are trying to get some definite clarification on from O2.
I've asked Toby to look into it and the missing news announcement too.
No one in CS knows anything about this !!!!
