If I upgrade from a 4g phone to a 5g one do I need a new sim card? Also, what should I do if I want to keep my same phone number.

@Mike60

You need a new sim to get a 5g signal although a 4g sim will still work in a 5g phone.

Get a sim by calling O2 Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support or by going in store and do a sim swap Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

You don't have to upgrade your sim if you are not in a 5G area @Mike60 .

If you upgrade your deal then you automatically keep your number.

To swap sims (if you get a 5G one and want to use it) follow the instructions on the card it comes with or read the guide below.

Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update
