If the phone i want to upgrade to is out of stock for home delivery, does this mean i can still go to an O2 shop and pick one up?

Yes you will have better luck going in store as they will more than likely have the phone you want in stock

Online and shop stock levels are different so it could be available in store but always wise to call ahead to check esp if it means a long journey, car parking fees etc.
