Upgrade then leave?

So my 1 month early upgrade is due in a few weeks, however I am planning on leaving to go to Three for their unlimited data tariffs.

Was just wondering what happens when you upgrade your phone? Do they sign you up for a new contract on that phone? A new contract sim? I'm guessing that I wouldn't be able to intiate my upgrade, pay my final bill a month later then take the phone with me and get a 12 month sim only contract on Three.

Cheers.

Hi,

Call o2 on your upgrade date and tell them you wish to leave for 3. Ask them for a PAC code and to unlatch your phone.

Then take out a 3 deal and give them your PAC code.

Hi Delahorney.

If you want a new phone you will need to buy it outright.

If you are intent on leaving you are best taking a handset deal with your new provider.

Phones are heavily subsidized in the UK based on the fact you are paying 24 months worth of line rental which covers the cost of these phones - there is no way on earth any provider would give you a £400+ phone then let you walk away.

Hope this helps.

If you opt to upgrade with 02 and accept the contract term and new handset then your locked into the contract till it ends again.

As said earlier ask for your PAC Code and take out a new contract / handset deal with 3.

02 may try to match the deal your getting with 3 too.
