Upgrade online v's in store?

Anonymous

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone could help or throw a link in my direction please? (I've had a hunt around - and used the search function - but couldn't find anything. I might just be being dim though!)

Can anyone tell me if I upgrade in store the tariffs and phone costs will be the same? For example online I'm being offered Iphone 5 16gb, 12 month contract with option to upgrade after nine months, contract cost £51 and phone cost £279.99. (If this isn't available in store I'll just order the phone from Apple and do a sim only contract - O2's online stock seems iffy at best.)

I've tried live chat but the CSR was not very helpful and wouldn't give me a straight answer, I've tried calling the upgrade line but got bored when I was still on hold after 18 minutes and my local shop's phone is ringing out, so I can't ask them.

Any help at all would be appreciated, thank you slight_smile

Usually you will get a better deal online than in store, however, be aware all online iPhone orders are been processed through Carphonewarehouse so you may get a better deal going directly to them instead.

You could always phone the store and check.

Thanks, I've tried them off and on since 9.30am this morning and still haven't had anyone answer the phone. The closest O2 shop is 45 mins/1 hour away, so it's not exactly easy to just pop in and ask sadly.

Thank you - attached my brain and called a different shop and managed to speak with someone. If it helps anyone the shop does not offer a 12 month contract when you're upgrading.

I'll try the CPW shop and see if I can do a 12 month upgrade with them instore...and if not, I'll give up and buy the phone from Apple.

Thank you both for the help - much better than live chat or being on hold forever slight_smile

I thought the iPhone5 was only available on a 24 month contract only ?

That's what the shop said too - but when I go into the upgrades bit online it offers me it on a 12 month contract and I was offered the same over the phone when I got through to O2 call centre this morning.

Don't imagine that helps much? I've been with O2 forever and a day if that makes any difference - around 10 years or so now I think.
