My upgrade is overdue but I don’t want to upgrade my phone as my 8 is still going strong, I’m dropped it down to a cheaper rolling monthly payment but I want to get an iPad? Can I do this without it stoping my phone from working I.E it thinks that’s my upgrade

No you can't.

If you upgrade from a phone you will get a data only tariff which is no good for your phone.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

You can take out an iPad alongside your phone and you will get 10% off the airtime if it's in refresh under the family plan, but @M15 says you can't change the phone sim to a data one, if you want the sim to run the phone.
