I am able to upgrade, but I don't want to ser up direct debit, I pay my phone bill by company credit card and this my preferred method of payment. Can I still upgrade without setting up direct debit?

@Stuartfcmh

Are you sure you are UPGRADING  and not applying for a new contract?

It's normal practice with any new contract ask for bank details, as Direct debits are O2's preferred method of payment.

When I have upgraded in the past I have never been asked for bank details

You need to check. You don't want two contracts running.

Call O2 they open at 8am Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support

Edited to add: you can give them your bank details then cancel with bank and continue paying by card

if you are going onto a o2 refresh then the terms are a direct debit has to be set up to continue, but you can cancel the direct debit once the order is placed and go back to the original payment method
I work for O2 but my comments and opinions posted here are solely my own and do not reflect those of Telefonica"
