I am trying to set up 4g home broadband using an outdoor wireless router that I already have, so I just need a SIM.

There is a £35 12 month unlimited contract that looks ideal, but the small print 'fair usage' says you can use it in a phone or a tablet, but not a modem. I can't see what difference this makes as I could use just as much data teathered to a phone, as connected to a modem. I need the exterior modem, as I'm in a very poor signal area, and I can hardly put a phone on the end of an antenna pole on the roof!

Is there a contract for this, or am I misunderstanding 'fair usage'

You need a specific broadband tarrif sim.

50 gb is the max you can get https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/sim-only-deals#other

Thanks MI5 - so I can have unlimited data on a phone, but only 50G on a modem? Any idea why?

Same reason as I can't use my 1gb data sim in EU but I can use my 30gb phone sim I guess ?
