Hi,

I just had a text message to my phone regarding a tariff charge of £17.79

Now I don't use my phone for phone in competitions or any premium based services like that.

I only use my phone for family calls.

I've checked my airtime bill to see whats up and I can't find anything.

What is going on?

Is this a glitch I should ignore?

Hi @Glyn

You need to call O2. All numbers are in this guide

Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support

Advice from an O2 Guru regarding a way to get through:

When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling,

Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.

Press 2 for Everything Else

Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to an advisor.

Press Upgrade, Lost/Stolen or Fraud if you have to.

Its definitely not a scam because on my airtime bill it shows the charge but doesn't tell me where the charge has come from.

Here is a copy / paste of it:

Sub total£17.79

@Glyn

What is your usual monthly cost?

As this is probably the Annual RPI price increase
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

My usual phone costs are around £20 due to the fact I have a fully paid off contract and have not upgraded in a number of years now.

The text message I received from O2UK reads as followed:

Hi, Just to let you know, you recently made your first call to a premium number which isn't included in your contract.

I am the only person with access to my phone and I always leave the history of my calls untouched.

Looking through my calls list, there is no premium numbers called, only family calls.
