I have not been able to SMS numbers in Australia since last week. The texts appear to go and I get debited, I can call the numbers. The numbers are on two different Oz networks (Telstra and Optus) and I can text UK numbers. I can text the Australian numbers from another UK network (EE) with no problem. I've spoken with customer services who says the messages have been sent and therefore its nothing to do with them - they are not prepared to look any further into it saying "it's their end." Clearly it's something related to O2 otherwise it wouldn't work from EE and its unlikely that the same problem would exist on two separate Australian networks. As CS won't help is there anyone here that can advise please?
Thank you

I started the original thread on 5 December. If you look on the Optus community forum here
you will see now that Optus acknowledge there is a problem but are unable to progress it without cooperation from O2 or at least a reference number which of course O2 won't provide. Can I suugest that if you are experienceing the problem you email the O2 CEO.

Can I suggest to those that are are experiencing the problem you now email the O2 CEO with your complaint - at least if enough of us do that they might listen and act.
You can find CEO email address here: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-1724511/How-to-complain-to-the-chief-executive.html
(Mods could this thread be merged/linked with the Sending text messages from O2 to Optus in Australia thread as we are duplicating things a bit.)

Up until 28/11/2013 I was able to send to Australia without issue. Now I am unable to send via O2 to my friends and family all on Optus in Australia. I have had my son try his O2 P&G also, the family are not receiving from him either. I have removed sim, blown into cavity, which is a crock. I have had to go out and purchase a 10 Pound P&G Sim from EE, and can text friends and family in Oz without issue. Yet O2 keeps stressing how its not thier fault the problem is with Optus out in Oz, if that was the case then the issue would be replicated across all networks, I work in IT, I do these diagnostics everyday, It's O2 to Optus. O2 blame Optus, Optus blame O2 and the customer sits with no service. All I want is someone to own it and fix it. Frustrated is not the word I would use, I am close to leaving this sorry arse provider for EE permanently as they guarantee thier service beyond these shores.

Its not the sim, its the network, just which one, and who is going to own the problem and fix the damn issue. O2 blame optus and Optus blame O2 and guess wat, nothing happens, I'm fed up to the back teeth of the whole sorry saga, 24hrs away from going to EE permanent. As I have had to buy an EE sim to stay in touch with family. Shame on you O2, pass the buck, NO FIX IT.

Totally totally agree off to EE, Optus and O2 have a problem, that neither wish to claim and if effects less than 0.0009% of their userbase so why should they care.

Best of luck with that, I've been trying for a fortnight to have them listen, they couldn't give a toss, they've had our cash and refuse to accept who's at fault blaming the other provider.

According to O2 not a problem, at least not thiers anyway. Purchase an EE pay and go, I did on the advice of thier own agent.

I understand how frustrating this must be for some but from what I have read it is Optus that has the problem not O2.
You can phone an Optus phone from the O2 Uk phone and it works, you can phone and text other Oz carriers and still no problem.
Optus customers can phone and Text O2 customers in the UK. So that only leaves Optus end of things causing the texts to not get through.
As I have said before if O2 are saying it has been sent from there end then it is Optus that has the problem and they are the ones that need everybody to contact.
Optus is owned by The Singtel group and the head of Australian Singtel is Paul O'sullivan (from Ireland). Maybe that maybe a good starting point for you all.
Also have you looked at Whatsapp as a cheaper alternative to texting anyway.
