UPGRADE HELP: there is only a SIMO option?!

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all, this is my first post on the O2 Community, though I've been an O2 customer for over a year now. Basically I have a problem when I sign in to see my upgrade options in MyO2:

The only option given to me is KEEP MY PHONE (sim only deal) - to get this I am told I will have to pay off the remainder of my device plan (which of course is fine).

I dont understand why there is no option for me to upgrade to a new device/phone with the upfront cost being the rest of my device plan.

Does anyone know why this is?

To clarify; I am on O2 Refresh and currently have £180 left on my device plan to pay off. Some bills were late in the past but I am up to date with payments now.

Thank you in advance,

Jay slight_smile Hug

With Refresh once you have paid off the phone (which you can go anytime) you can then upgrade with the full range of options.

I see. So say I called customer services and paid off the £180, when I then sign into O2- the option for a new phone would be there?

Hi Jay. Welcome to the forum

It may well be you are having this problem because of previous missed payments (even though you are up to date now) Your best bet is to ring customer services and speak to an advisor

Once you pay the device plan off you effectively become sim only. You can continue to pay just for the airtime for as long as you wish or give 30 days notice on the airtime and upgrade to a completely new contract with new phone and airtime package. However, you will have to be credit checked again so those late payments might go against you.
