@Virginwasbetter - SMS Duplication can happen when the receiving network doesn't send a handshake back to the sending network to say the SMS has been received. If this happens on all SMS to all networks, start with getting a new SIM or moving from physical SIM to eSIM or from eSIM back to physical and test with an SMS.

Your local O2 store can help with the SIM Swap, remember to take photo ID with you.

If the duplication is restricted to SMS to just one network, which can sometimes happen after you have ported into O2 from another network, then O2 will need to tear down your account on their side and re-create from scratch - you will lose connection for a short period while this is done. O2 Store staff should also be able help with this, if it is required. Good luck.
