Hi @Anonymous If you have O2 Travel it will cost £4.99 a day to call text and use data

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/pay-monthly/using-your-phone-abroad#which-countries-are-included

If you've got a Pay Monthly sim, text O2TRAVELto 23336. If you've got a Pay As You Go sim, text TRAVELON to 21300.

It can take up to 24 hours for O2 Travel to be applied to your account.

(Please note a simple text or call will trigger the £4.99 rate)

Without O2 travel these are the standard rates for using your phone in New Zealand

Use Wifi wherever you can and communicate if possible via Whatsapp or Messenger

Turn voicemail off

Unlockk your phone before you travel https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-card/ba-p/1014131 and get a local sim when you arrive in NZ.

They sell them in the airports.

If you want to call homw use Skype, Whatsapp etc to call back to UK.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I would advise not getting a sim card from the airport as there will be masses of passengers trying to do the same. You could be there about an hour or more and end up with an unsuitable and overpriced tariff. Much better to go into a network store and browse to find the best deal to suit your needs there.

Unless you'd rather not spend your holiday wandering around phone shops ?

Wandering round? It can be done at the first shop and as long as that network meets his need it will be far cheaper than the airport. I'm speaking as someone who bought at the airport so I could call my then girlfriend where to meet me in Bangkok. When she asked what network I bought it turned out she was with the same one. I could have gone to a 7-11 store and got a much cheaper deal than I got at the airport.. At the DTAC store there was an even better deal.

At home I use O2 for my iphone and my ipad but when I'm in New Zealand I always get Vodaphone sims for both devices.....

Once I'm in the country I go to a shopping mall and go to the Vodaphone shop......
