And before you go dial 1760 to disable voicemail on your return dial 1750 to turn it back on.

Many Thanks gor your reply, does this mean then that I will have to put more credit on and once o2 have taken the £10 out for my monthly allowance any calls or texts that I do would be taken off my credit. I really am not up on all this (lady in my 60) I really will not be using it a lot but if I need to I want to make a call or send a text without worrying about running out of credit.

Hi @Anonymous
I travel abroad a lot (though to Spain not Turkey)
When I had a PAYG phone I used to top up before I left the UK as I knew, with phoning and texting
I would usually run out of credit.
If you top up via a credit/debit card registered with O2 (as I always did) It is easy enough to do that
from abroad by ringing 4444 from your phone and following the process as if you were in the UK
My massive top up bills were the main reason I changed to a contract phone
(But then I go to Spain frequently during the year...and this may just be a one off trip for you?)

If on payg go go then yes if it uses the credit for your allowance you need to top up more.
What handset do you have and people can advise on turning data off as that would eat credit very quickly.

I have a HTC Wildfire. I normally put £10 a month on and then they take this off for my Pay & Go Go Go, I very rarely use all this in a month and I never use the 500MB because I do not turn this on my phone. We are only going for a week to celebrate my daughters 40th birthday. I think it may be worth me putting around £30 on.
