Transferring mobile number

I have been advised to switch off the WiFi to enable number to be switched, is this at my router or on the new phone?

Just switch off on your phone so you are using mobile data though I've never found it necessary to switch off WiFi for a number change before. Hope this wasn't live chat....

Are you using an iPhone?

 

Go to Settings > Phone and update your number to your transferred number then switch the phone off and back on so that iMessage and Facetime update.
