Transferring Virgin PAYG number to O2

Hello.
I need to ask a simple question in a complicated way... please bear with me. Smiley Indifferent
I have an HTC Hero which was bought for staying in touch with relatives abroad, which led me to join 3 for their Skype app. Turns out they're useless and I get no data signal at home.
Then I tried O2 T&W and although I get a signal I couldn't manage on 500MB so I got a Virgin SIM with 1GB and coincidentally a cool number.
I have just noticed that theres a 500MB bolt-on for £7.50 with unlimited Cloud Wi-Fi though!
So... is there a minimum period before I can ask Virgin for a PAC?
Can O2 edit my existing T&W account to use the new number (keep O2 balance).
Would my Virgin balance transfer with the number?
All help appreciated. Smiley Happy

Re: Transferring Virgin PAYG number to O2

you'll have to ask Virgin about the minimum period. You'll be able to transfer your number into your existing account. But you won't keep the Virgin balance.

Re: Transferring Virgin PAYG number to O2

Also look at this.
If you on payg with o2 and have a Text and Web Tariff you may already get the free wifi.
O2 recently change there old Tariff to this one
Text and WebSIM Cost - FREE
Up to 300 UK texts, 500MB UK data and unlimited Wi-Fi when you top-up £10 a month1
http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/Pay_and_Go
Now I can tell you that i have a very old web and text tariff and i know get free wifi and i havnt changed it, one of my friends who has been with o2 for 9 months has a text and web tariff and he now gets the free wifi (tested and working fine)
so just check as you may now also get the free wifi.
This may save you the £7.50 bundle as well.
So check what Tariff you are on and change if its better value.
Any more info then just ask

@darrengf , the OP needs the bolt-on primarily for the extra data as the 500megabytes isn't enough.

Well I can tell you that list is out of date then.
It works fine on a SE Satio. Not one issue at all.
What doesnt make sense is why its only supported on those handsets.
When you are connecting via wifi, the cloud couldnt care less what the phone is and you do is put you mobile no in.
So why is it restricted to certain ones.

I think the issue is with openzone going by some of the other threads they need handset info from o2.

Re: Transferring Virgin PAYG number to O2

I've not yet tried the WiFi - I'd be surprised if I couldn't connect. Though if it's now included in a £10 topup that just means I'm paying £7.50 for the extra 500MB which I can live with.
