Top ups new sim

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi, I just received  new o2 payg sim. I went online, as per the instructions on the sim packaging. Everything proceeded well until just after I had input my credit card details, after which I received a message saying "something is broken".

I then contacted the online chat, only to be infromed that I have to make the first topup in an o2 store rather than online. As I am 50 miles from the nearest one, don't drive and have a 4 mile walk to get a bus, I am unwilling to do so. Surely this must be wrong? There is also mention on the o2 website of an e-top up card but no information on how to actually obtain one.

You need a voucher or in store top up.
Vouchers can be bought in any corner shop.

It's a real pity that O2 STILL won't recognise that a voucher is required for first top up. It would save so much hassle if they could include this on the sim packaging
