Three to buy O2 in the UK

Anonymous
Not applicable

Dear O2,

A number of newspapers reported yesterday that Three is buying O2 in the UK. It would be much appreciated if you could confirm that the news reports about the acquisition are true and Hutchinson Whampoa (a.k.a. Three) is buying O2 and when the deal is expected to be completed.

Having been a very loyal customer to date and having joined O2 in 2005, I would advise O2 against any such action. In 2005, I moved from Three to O2 as a result of HORRENDOUS customer service, which customer service has NOT IMPROVED AT ALL since then (my in-laws only moved last month from Three for the same reason: absolutely atrocious customer service).

In case the deal goes ahead and Three do actually acquire O2, I wish to advise you that I will without hesitation leave O2 quicker than the speed of light and no re-assurance will convince me to stay. Furthermore, I guarantee you that anyone who is on either O2 or GiffGaff I know (including business customers) will follow suit.

Thank you in advance

Kind Regards

Damian

Hi @Anonymous

Appreciate you thoughts on this although you aren't actually communicating with O2 directly via this forum. We are all customers like yourself...:smileywink:

Yes it's happening. It's awaiting approval currently and has been "on the table" for a few months now.
However strongly you feel about this though, I doubt O2 will take the slightest bit of notice over your concerns wink

O2 are highly unlikely to take your advice on this, it's almost a done deal.

Bet they don't.

If three bring to O2 the kind of offers three customers currently get and also carry on o2's Refresh,

It will be one of the best networks on earth.

I wish I had seen Damian's message.  I have just transferred from Three to O2 this weekend.  I concur with Damian - Three customer service is atrocious.  I also would not hesitate moving to another provider.

How is this not common knowledge?
