I am organising a fund raiser for local church using Just Giving. I note texts to their number, 70070, on my monthly contract say ”This text may be chargeable” or something like that. Are texts to 700nn numbers on monthly contracts charged and at what rate? My contract says unlimited texts so I was surprised to see that message when I tested the system. Normally I don't get that message.

From what I understand the text will be charged at the network standard rate if you have no allowances left.

Thank you all for your interest and comments. The debate seems to justify my question!
The confusion in my mind started because when I text using my monthly account the message is just sent - no comment appears on the screen. However when I tested the Just Giving account I set up, the comment -
"Messaging would like to send a message to 70070
This will cause charges on your mobile account"
However I have just realised that this possibly referes to the amount of donation, which is charged to and paid through my O2 account, and not to the cost of the text message.
As for Toby's question re what am I up to in respect of fund raising, see http://stbees.org.uk/churches/priory/index.html and in particular the page on the Sleeping Child Garden.
(I hope that doesn't breach forum guidelines but you did ask!).

I think that's hit the nail on the head
