Texting to Just Giving - 70070

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am organising a fund raiser for local church using Just Giving. I note texts to their number, 70070, on my monthly contract say ”This text  may be chargeable” or something like that. Are texts to 700nn numbers on monthly contracts charged and at what rate? My contract says unlimited texts so I was surprised to see that message when I tested the system. Normally I don't get that message.

Hi

From the site http://www.justgiving.com/en/justtextgiving

"JustTextGiving by Vodafone
Are you in the UK and fundraising for a UK charity?

Whatever network you're on, JustTextGiving lets anyone donate to you by text.

It's free, easy to set up and every penny goes to charity.

Make your page to create your unique code"

Regarding sending texts and costs you could speak to O2 on 202 contract / 4445 Payg for official clarification.

Good for you for giving to charity. slight_smile

LEt us know how you get on.

They are usually charged at the cost of one standard message so as you have unlimited it won't cost you. Other customers without a text allowance will be charged according to their tariff.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

To add

"The cost of donating by text
JustTextGiving is a free service. There is no cost to you for sending the text message and your free allowance/bundle will not be affected - the only charge will be the donation itself. What's more, 100% of your text donation (including Gift Aid) will be sent to the charity."

Am I being my usual thick self here?

@jonsie says "The text for making a donation is charged as a standard text ie. it comes from your allowance."

whereas @Anonymous quotes "JustTextGiving is a free service. There is no cost to you for sending the text message and your free allowance/bundle will not be affected - the only charge will be the donation itself."       Surely both of these statements cannot be true?

Have to say I do not use Text messages for donating preferring to give direct to the organisation concerned.

The text comes from your allowance with no extra charge.

And just for total clarification @jonsie  - if a customer has exhausted her/his text allowance what is the position?  Charge or no charge for the donating text?
