Terrible Signal/Calls Cutting Off - What To Do?

Hi, I recently moved house and at my old address I was with Virgin and was moved onto O2 following the merger. Just before I moved, I cancelled all my Virgin Media services and started a new contract with O2 for my phone at a much cheaper rate but in the new house I get a terrible signal and calls keep getting cut off.

I entered into the new contract in October last year and have reported the signal issues with O2 a few times, the main problem in doing this is that I can barely make any calls to them or anyone else as the call quality is so bad and more often than not I get cut off.

The last time I was able to speak to them, they said I could cancel my contract but I would have to pay an early cancellation fee of over £180. Seeing as this seems to be an issue with their network I don't think I should have to pay this.

The person who previously lived at my new address was with Vodafone and said they never experienced any problems and my friend who is also on O2, has the exact same signal and disconnection problems I have when using their phone at my house.

I have thought about getting a few PAYG sims from various networks to test if my phone works ok with those but as my phone is still under contract and isn't unlocked, I can't do that.

Can anyone advise me what is the best thing to do in my situation? Ideally I would like to cancel the contract, not have to pay the early exit fee and move to another network. At the moment I can't really use my phone for calls and I tried the online chat but that wasn't particularly helpful.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have WiFi Calling enabled on my phone. Is it better to use the Wifi Preferred option or Mobile Network Preferred? With the mobile network selected then it keeps switching between that and the WiFi when on a call and makes the quality terrible and intermittent.

@Pro_CabsCoLtd I checked the website you linked to and it appears as though my house is in a red area unfortunately. I have a friend coming tomorrow who is on another network so I will see what their calls are like with their phone in my house.

You need to set to wifi preferred.

Thanks very much. I'll give that a go and see if it's any better.
